Please read the

GENERAL RULES


  1. Saturday classes begin at 10 am and end at 2 pm. Friday classes begin at 4:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm.
  2. Students must be punctual and arrive on time. If the student is late, he or she will receive a TARDY PASS from a Person on Duty. The tardy pass must be presented to the teacher in order to attend class.
  3. Regular attendance is the key to obtaining knowledge and successful learning. The parent is required to give advance notice to the teacher if a student will be absent.
  4. Each student is responsible for preparing workspace. They should always have textbooks, notebooks, and other necessary supplies. His workspace and supplies should be neatly organized.
  5. All students are expected to be courteous and respectful of fellow students and school staff. Profanity/foul language is prohibited in any language. There is a zero-tolerance policy for any type of harassment, bullying or inappropriate hand gestures, inappropriate images, and inappropriate digital content (including images, videos, etc).
  6. All students are to respect one another’s personal property. It is prohibited to take items that belong to other students or teachers without their consent.
  7. All students must respect and help maintain school property and the classroom by keeping them clean and tidy. Students shall not write or draw on school furniture, walls, and school building.  Students should not litter on school and church premises. Bathroom facilities must be respected, kept clean, and used appropriately. Parents/Guardians are responsible for any damages caused by their student to school/church property, as well as to the property of students and school staff.
  8. Students are not allowed to leave the school property during school hours. Students may only leave the premises when accompanied by a teacher/parent/guardian.
  9. Students are expected to be well behaved and self-disciplined at all times. A student should never interrupt a teacher or a classmate. They are not allowed to interfere with the normal order of a school day. Students should show the same courtesy and self-discipline inside and outside the classroom. Students are expected to remain at their assigned desks during the class. They are not allowed to get up without permission.
  10. Students are expected to be well behaved and self-disciplined during break time.  RUNNING IN THE HALLWAYS OR ON THE STAIRS IS NEVER ALLOWED. Running is the most frequent cause of injuries. Students are NOT allowed to go outside the building (on the street, playground) without teacher’s permission. Student are NOT allowed to play potentially hazardous games, climb on the fence, push other students or make them trip. Shoelaces should be tied at all times.


The following items are PROHIBITED on school premises:


  • Piercing and cutting items (knives, razors, etc.);
  • Flammable substances, solids, liquids or gases (matches, fireworks, etc.);
  • Any kind of weapons, including guns;
  • Valuable personal items, expensive toys, money;
  • Potentially dangerous toys (darts, yo-yo, etc.);
  • Electronic games (computers, laptops, iPods, handheld games);
  • Skateboards, roller skates, roller shoes, etc.;
  • Laser pointers, flashlights;
  • Chewing gum


Items that distract students during class time will be confiscated. They will be held at the principal’s office until the end of the school day. Confiscated items will be returned to parents/guardians only.


  1. Smartphones/tablets are NOT allowed to be used by students during school hours (for emergency contact, use office phone).
  2. Pets are never allowed on school and church premises.
  3. Students are NOT allowed to stay after school hours without a legitimate reason. They are expected to leave school premises with a parent or guardian by 2:15 pm.


School administration reserves the right to modify these rules at any time without prior notification.

STUDENTS CODE OF CONDUCT​


Arrive to school on time.


Always greet teachers and classmates. You should address teachers in a form of polite “You” (Russian plural 2nd person) and by their given and patronymic names.


Be on your best behavior at all times; be courteous and polite; do not use offensive and foul language; be kind and do not laugh at your classmates’ mistakes.


Set a good example for others. Treat teachers and other students with respect.


Wear appropriate, neat clothing. Avoid wearing clothing and shoes with laces or ties.


The spoken language in school should be Russian.


Prepare your desk prior to starting class; keep your desk neat at all times.


Listen attentively to the teacher during class time. Observe class rules and etiquette. Do not disrupt discipline in the classroom. Raise your hand to answer and ask questions.


Keep textbooks and notebooks in order. At the end of the school year, school textbooks must be returned to the school library.


Always complete all your homework.


Read books in Russian language regularly.


Russian Language & Arts operates on a normal schedule unless closure is mandatory due to inclement weather or other extreme circumstances as advised by Government or other authorities. While public roads remain open, and local businesses operate as usual, Russian Language & Arts will remain open.


During inclement weather or other states of emergencies, and while Russian Language & Arts is operating, parents and staff are encouraged to use their own judgment to decide whether it is safe to drive children to school or not.

Please read the

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS RESPONSIBILITIES


Bring students to school 10 minutes prior to classes starting. Students should be picked up no later than 2:15 pm.


Cars are to be parked in the designated areas only. NOTE: Parking in Handicapped spaces is strictly prohibited and will be fined accordingly.


Encourage your student to take good care of textbooks, notebooks and school supplies; keep them clean and in order. If a school-owned textbook is lost or damaged, parent/guardian must reimburse the school item’s full price.


Regular school attendance should be supported and is expected.


In the event of a student’s absence, parents/guardians are required to inform the teacher/school administration in advance.


Regularly check emails from Russian Language & Arts and the school website. They serve as a method for communicating homework and important school announcements.


Monitor the completion of all homework assignments.


Attendance at parent meetings is expected.


Regularly check your child’s agenda (Дневник).


The “Person On Duty/Volunteer” requirement must be met, or you must pay an agreed fee to the school administration.


Always follow school rules.


Ensure school tuition and other payments are made no later than the established due date.

Please read the

“PERSON ON DUTY” REQUIREMENTS​


A parent/guardian is required to fulfill their commitment to be “on duty” for the duration of a full school day once a year for each child enrolled.


On Saturday, the person on duty must report to school at 9:45 am for orientation. The shift ends at 2:15 pm. Please be on time.


For students attending school on Fridays: A parent/guardian of the enrolled student must serve “on duty” twice a year for each child enrolled (from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm).


In the event the parent/guardian cannot fulfill their responsibility on the assigned date, teacher or school principal must be informed no later than one week prior to the assigned date.


Parents/Guardians have an option of paying a fee of $25 if they are unable to make their volunteering duty possible. Such an arrangement needs to be discussed with their child’s teacher.

TUITION PAYMENT TERMS​


Tuition payment could be payed by the first day of each month. It could be paid in the form of a check, Money Order, or Bank’s Bill Pay. Cash is also accepted but not preferred.


Due date for a monthly payment is: 1st of each month. Payments must be received by school administration no later than the 6th day of each month.


A late payment fee of $10 will be assessed if tuition payment is received after the 6th day of the month.  The late payment fee must be included with tuition payment for the following month.

Please read the

DISMISSAL INSTRUCTIONS​


For students of Classes: “Pre-School (Дошкольный)”; “Cyrillica (Азбука)”; “1st Beginner’s (Первый Начальный)”


Parents and guardians are expected to escort students to their classrooms at the beginning of each school day. Likewise, at the end of each school day parents/guardians must pick up students from their classrooms and escort them to their car.


For students of Classes: 1st Grade; 2nd Grade; 3rd Grade; 4th Grade.


Students enrolled in the classes above will wait for their parents at the church front entrance. Parents should park their car, pick up their student(s), and notify the responsible for dismissal Person on Duty that your student(s) are leaving the premises.


Note:

Older siblings of students enrolled in Russian Language & Arts are NOT allowed to pick up their younger brothers/sisters.


Should a student have early dismissal, parents have to notify the school administration in advance about the person picking up the student, including their name and exact time. Students will not be dismissed until it is cleared with the school administration.


Should a student not be picked up by 2:15 pm, he or she will be transferred to the After School and waiting at the principal’s office.

Parents are welcome to visit the principal’s office from 10-11 am and from 1-2 pm. You may submit tuition payments, ask questions, and make recommendations at that time.

MEDIA AUTHORIZATION

As you know, when your children work in school or participate in school events, we periodically take photographs or shoot a video. We ask for your permission to use photos and videos made during class activities, events, or celebrations, for accommodation in classrooms, corridors, electronic newspapers, historical records, as well as, the acquaintance of teachers. The Russian Language & Arts also uses photographs for public goals. When photographs are used for public purposes, children are not identified by name nor any other personal details of the child. On request, all published photos are available for parents to preview.  Also, parents have the right to prohibit the use of any photographs for publication. Please indicate your preference for the photos in the form below.

These photos can be used inside the school (classroom, corridor, historical records, and for teachers to identify students), as well as, publication on the school’s website and the school’s Facebook page. I understand that these photos will be available for preview on my request.
